S1E21 Pitching Command Show: Bronson Arroyo 10/26/23

Bronson Arroyo was drafted by the Pirates in the 3rd round in 1995 and made it the MLB in 2000 with the Pirates. He then pitched 16 years in the MLB playing with the Red Sox, Reds, and Diamondbacks.

For the Red Sox AAA, Bronson Arroyo pitched the fourth nine-inning perfect game in the 121-year history of the International League in 2003 when he struck out nine, and went to a three-ball count only 3 times.

Bronson Arroyo was a part of the 2004 World Series champions Red Sox, and was elected to the Reds hall of fame in 2023.

A great discussion with Bronson Arroyo about training and measuring pitching control, command, sequencing and what it takes to pitch at higher levels of baseball.

With everyone throwing hard nowadays, command is now the separator. It’s no longer a choice between being either a power pitcher or a finesse pitcher today. You need to be both, velocity with command. Command is what separates pitchers from the pack today.
